Mitsui E&S: 66,000 dwt Bulker Newbuild Delivered

Japanese shipbuilder Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding (MES-S) has handed over a 66,000 dwt bulk carrier to Liberia-based Tomaros Navigation.

Named M/V Tomaros, the delivery ceremony for the newbuild took place at Mitsui’s Tamano shipyard on October 23, 2019.

According to Mitsui, the wide beam shallow draft vessel is the 20th ship of the shipbuilder’s eco-ship neo66BC design.

Featuring a length of 200 meters and a width of 36 meters, the 38,234 GT bulker flies the flag of the Bahamas.

With four cranes and five cargo holds, the vessel is designed to have a capacity of more than 82,800 cubic meters for loading various cargos like coal, ore, grain, as well as lengthy/heavy cargo such as steel pipe and hot coil.

In addition, the newbuild is designed for operation in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) as it has low sulfur fuel oil tanks.

Tomaros will be operated by Japanese Kawana Kaiun, data provided by VesselsValue shows.
