{"id":9947,"date":"2020-05-16T00:44:20","date_gmt":"2020-05-15T21:44:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/update-iranian-container-ship-accident\/9947\/"},"modified":"2020-05-16T00:44:20","modified_gmt":"2020-05-15T21:44:20","slug":"update-iranian-container-ship-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/update-iranian-container-ship-accident\/9947\/","title":{"rendered":"Update: Iranian Container Ship Accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) issued a brief statement confirming that its container ship the <em>Shahraz <\/em>had grounded in the waters north of Indonesia near Sambu Island but denied that there had been a collision with the Indonesia-flag bulk carrier <em>Samudra Sakti I<\/em> that also grounded in the area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;A ship from the Islamic Republic of Iran&#039;s shipping fleet ran aground on May 12 while crossing the Strait of Singapore due to technical problems, but fortunately no casualties or environmental damage were reported,&quot; according to the Iranian statement. &quot;The situation is now under control and the necessary measures are being taken to prevent possible environmental pollution and to make the ship getting floated again,&quot; it added.<\/p>\n<p>IRISL, however, also said that loss of the ship is covered under &quot;credited international insurances.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/media\/images\/article\/Photos\/Wreckage_Salvage\/Iranian-container-ship---courtesy-Ministry-of-Trasportation-Indonesia.jpg\" style=\"height:200px;width:400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the time of the incident, the <em>Shahraz <\/em>was reported to be sailing from Port Klang Malaysia to Shanghai, China while the was <em>Samudra Sakti I<\/em> was sailing from Belawan to Bayah.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Indonesian authorities the <em>Samudra Sakti I <\/em>was successfully refloated and moved to an anchorage.
