{"id":9701,"date":"2020-05-12T20:17:32","date_gmt":"2020-05-12T17:17:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/swathe-of-aframaxes-sold\/9701\/"},"modified":"2020-05-12T20:17:32","modified_gmt":"2020-05-12T17:17:32","slug":"swathe-of-aframaxes-sold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/swathe-of-aframaxes-sold\/9701\/","title":{"rendered":"Swathe of aframaxes sold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>While April was was the month for vintage VLCC sales, the beginning of May has so far been about the sale of aframaxes with plenty of ships sold to still undisclosed buyers keen to bag tonnage for a segment where daily earnings are comfortably still in excess of $30,000 a day.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Head of the pack this week is the Zodiac Maritime-managed 20-year-old 105,900-dwt <span style=\"color:#00adeb;\" class=\"msi_tooltip\" data-msiurl=\"https:\/\/www.msiltd.com\" data-imo=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9192260\">Blue Sun<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:none\" src=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9192260\">, which VesselsValue lists as bought by UAE-based Kader Management for $8.5m. The tanker has been renamed <em>Jubilant<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Eastern Pacific Shipping is also reported selling a sister ship, named <span style=\"color:#00adeb;\" class=\"msi_tooltip\" data-msiurl=\"https:\/\/www.msiltd.com\" data-imo=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9192258\">Barents Sea<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:none\" src=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9192258\">, for $7.5m. The low price attached to this deal reflects delivery with special service and dry dock due.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Other sales in the sector include the sale of the 16-year-old 114,000 dwt <span style=\"color:#00adeb;\" class=\"msi_tooltip\" data-msiurl=\"https:\/\/www.msiltd.com\" data-imo=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9258894\">Pallas Orust<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:none\" src=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9258894\">, sold to Indonesian buyers for $14m.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Thenamaris-controlled Brave Maritime has also been selling, reportedly committing the 105,000 dwt Chinese-built <span style=\"color:#00adeb;\" class=\"msi_tooltip\" data-msiurl=\"https:\/\/www.msiltd.com\" data-imo=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9293002\">Signal Puma<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:none\" src=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9293002\"> (2005) for a little less than $18m with special service and dry dock freshly passed and a ballast water treatment system installed. Sales chatter also surrounds Eletson Corp\u2019s two 2002-built 106,000 dwt aframaxes, <span style=\"color:#00adeb;\" class=\"msi_tooltip\" data-msiurl=\"https:\/\/www.msiltd.com\" data-imo=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9232448\">Agathonissos<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:none\" src=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9232448\"> and <span style=\"color:#00adeb;\" class=\"msi_tooltip\" data-msiurl=\"https:\/\/www.msiltd.com\" data-imo=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9232450\">Makronissos<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:none\" src=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9232450\">.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Not all the sales are materialising however. <em>Splash<\/em> understands that Stealth Maritime\u2019s 104,600 dwt <span style=\"color:#00adeb;\" class=\"msi_tooltip\" data-msiurl=\"https:\/\/www.msiltd.com\" data-imo=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9308819\">CS Zephyr<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:none\" src=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/9308819\"> (2006), reported sold for just under $18m to undisclosed buyers, failed and that this vessel is now being recirculated for sale again.<\/p>\n<p>splash247<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While April was was the month for vintage VLCC sales, the beginning of May has so far been about the sale of aframaxes with plenty of ships sold to still undisclosed buyers keen to bag tonnage for a segment where daily earnings are comfortably still in excess of $30,000 a day.
