{"id":7895,"date":"2020-04-13T16:45:18","date_gmt":"2020-04-13T13:45:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/philippines-repatriates-over-13000-distressed-seafarers\/7895\/"},"modified":"2020-04-13T16:45:18","modified_gmt":"2020-04-13T13:45:18","slug":"philippines-repatriates-over-13000-distressed-seafarers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/philippines-repatriates-over-13000-distressed-seafarers\/7895\/","title":{"rendered":"Philippines repatriates over 13,000 distressed seafarers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>A group of 668 seafarers landed today at an airport in Manilla, the Philippines, breaking the 13,000 figure of repatriated seafarers who were displaced by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The latest wave is the second of three groups planned to arrive today in the country&#8217;s capital as part of a massive governmental campaign to return the affected seafarers home.<\/p>\n<p>The Philippines is considered to be one of the world&#8217;s biggest suppliers of\u00a0seafarers\u00a0on international ships and the pandemic <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"has left thousands of its sailors stuck (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/thousands-of-cruise-ship-crew-members-stranded-at-sea\/\" target=\"_blank\">has left thousands of its sailors stuck<\/a> on merchant and cruise ships unable to return homes amid globally imposed travel restrictions. <\/p>\n<p>Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers&#8217; Affairs Sarah Lou Y.
