{"id":7311,"date":"2020-04-03T03:08:20","date_gmt":"2020-04-03T00:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/worlds-largest-containership-to-start-sailing-at-the-end-of-april\/7311\/"},"modified":"2020-04-03T03:08:20","modified_gmt":"2020-04-03T00:08:20","slug":"worlds-largest-containership-to-start-sailing-at-the-end-of-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/worlds-largest-containership-to-start-sailing-at-the-end-of-april\/7311\/","title":{"rendered":"World\u2019s Largest Containership to Start Sailing at the End of April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The delivery of 24,000 TEU containerships to South Korean shipping company HMM will not be delayed by the ongoing impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the shipbuilding industry.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The giant containerships, the largest ones in the world, were set to start their sequential delivery this month coinciding with the company\u2019s entry into a new containership alliance \u2013 THE Alliance.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The ships are undergoing final touches at the Korean shipyards Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding &amp; Marine Engineering (DSME).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">The very first one will be deployed in the Asia-North Europe trade lane from the end of April, and then, the others are supposed to be sequentially delivered until September this year,\u201d<\/span><\/em><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0a company spokesperson confirmed to World Maritime News.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the official start of the HMM\u2019s membership in the new alliance at this challenging time for the container shipping industry and yesterday\u2019s announcement <a href=\"https:\/\/worldmaritimenews.com\/archives\/293561\/the-alliance-reveals-new-batch-of-void-sailings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">about void sailings<\/a>, HMM said the move was aligned with the unfavorable market situation.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHMM strives to flexibly respond to the unfavorable market situation, particularly, sharp reduction in demand, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic which has remained widespread all over the globe,\u201d <\/em>the company said.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe contingency plan at THE Alliance level has been established and will be implemented accordingly. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHMM is no exception to this plan.
