{"id":5056,"date":"2020-02-24T14:33:35","date_gmt":"2020-02-24T11:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/torm-orders-lr2-tanker-pair-at-gsi\/5056\/"},"modified":"2020-02-24T14:33:35","modified_gmt":"2020-02-24T11:33:35","slug":"torm-orders-lr2-tanker-pair-at-gsi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/torm-orders-lr2-tanker-pair-at-gsi\/5056\/","title":{"rendered":"Torm orders LR2 tanker pair at GSI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>Danish product tanker giant Torm has returned to China\u2019s Guangzhou Shipyard International to order a pair of scrubber-fitted LR2 newbuildings.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The vessels will be prepared for dual-fuel installation in future, and are scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2021.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Jacob Meldgaard, executive director of Torm, commented: \u201cI am very pleased that TORM has utilized its long-term relationship with Guangzhou Shipyard International to enter into an agreement to purchase two LR2 newbuildings. These newbuildings will be financed through a flexible and attractive sale and leaseback structure including a repurchase option at the end of the lease period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Torm says it will have a total capex relating to the vessels of $95m, which includes costs related to its specific design requirements and scrubber installation.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Over a third of Torm\u2019s fleet was built at GSI, with 29 of the company\u2019s 80 vessels built at the Chinese yard.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Torm also confirmed the recent sale of 2004-built handy vessel\u00a0<em>Torm Loire<\/em>\u00a0for $9m.
