{"id":4977,"date":"2020-02-23T05:24:10","date_gmt":"2020-02-23T02:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/apl-boxship-hits-antwerp-crane\/4977\/"},"modified":"2020-02-23T05:24:10","modified_gmt":"2020-02-23T02:24:10","slug":"apl-boxship-hits-antwerp-crane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/apl-boxship-hits-antwerp-crane\/4977\/","title":{"rendered":"APL boxship hits Antwerp crane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>The port of Antwerp is operating minus a \u00a0gantry shore crane after yet another boxship collision.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In squally conditions, the 9,200 teu <span style=\"color:#00adeb;\" class=\"mt_tooltip\" data-mturl=\"\/en\/ais\/details\/ships\/shipid:998780\/mmsi:566961000\/vessel:998780\" data-mmsi=\"566961000\" data-imo=\"9632210\" data-dwt=\"115024\" data-yob=\"2014\" data-typename=\"Container Ship\" data-typecolor=\"7\" data-countrycode=\"SG\" data-country=\"Singapore\" data-info=\"Container Ship [SG]\" data-photourl=\"https:\/\/photos.marinetraffic.com\/ais\/showphoto.aspx?shipid=998780\" data-assetname=\"APL MEXICO CITY\" data-assettype=\"Vessel\">APL Mexico City<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display:none\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.marinetraffic.com\/ais\/showphoto.aspx?shipid=998780\"> broke its mooring yesterday afternoon and slammed into a crane at DP World\u2019s Antwerp Gateway terminal.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>No one was in the crane at the time, which collapsed and forced a complete closure of the terminal.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>With quay cranes tumbling around the world in the last couple of years insurer TT Club has been keeping a tally on the damage done.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>TT Club claims analysis continue to flag quay crane issues as giving rise to the highest cost incidents for ports and terminal operators.
