(K Line).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The works started after K Line placed an order for the ship in December 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Imabari is scheduled to deliver the 199.9-meter newbuild in the fall of 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to K Line, the yet-to-be-named 73,800 ton ship will have a capacity to carry 2,020 vehicles and will sail under the flag of Japan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">K Line said the decision to build a LNG-fueled car carrier was part of the company\u2019s long-term environmental management vision called the \u201cK\u201d LINE Environmental Vision 2050 \u201cSecuring the Blue Seas for Tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company started introducing environmentally-friendly vessel into its fleet with the 2016 launch of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/worldmaritimenews.com\/archives\/210296\/japanese-sox-scrubber-system-gets-first-certification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drive Green Highway<\/a>, a car carrier equipped with energy-saving technologies and SOx scrubbers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"post_share_buttons\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japanese shipbuilder Imabari Shipbuilding has started construction works on an LNG-powered car carrier for compatriot shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.
