{"id":3872,"date":"2019-11-28T19:28:18","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T16:28:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/?p=3872"},"modified":"2019-11-28T19:28:20","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T16:28:20","slug":"gasum-wraps-up-its-1st-cruise-vessel-sts-lng-bunkering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/gasum-wraps-up-its-1st-cruise-vessel-sts-lng-bunkering\/3872\/","title":{"rendered":"Gasum Wraps Up Its 1st Cruise Vessel STS LNG Bunkering"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Finnish energy company Gasum has completed its first ship-to-ship (STS) liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering involving a cruise ship.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier this month, Gasum\u2019s LNG bunker vessel Coralius delivered LNG to Carnival Corporation\u2019s new cruise ship\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/worldmaritimenews.com\/archives\/285501\/meyer-turku-delays-delivery-of-costa-smeralda-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Costa Smeralda<\/a>\u00a0at Meyer Turku shipyard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 180,000 GT Costa Smeralda is the first cruise ship in a series of newbuilds at Meyer Turku that will be fitted with LNG propulsion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Built in 2017, the 5,800 cbm Coralius celebrated its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/worldmaritimenews.com\/archives\/272453\/gasum-boasts-lng-bunkering-milestone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">100th bunkering<\/a>\u00a0in late February 2019. The vessel mainly operates in the North Sea and the Skagerrak area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cCoralius allows us to perform ship-to-ship bunkering to different types of vessels. We are happy that this now includes a cruise ship,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Jacob Granqvist, Sales Director, LNG Marine, Gasum, commented.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">LNG is said to be the cleanest available marine fuel, and it\u2019s rapidly becoming the most commonly used alternative to traditional fuels.
