{"id":3492,"date":"2019-10-24T20:03:56","date_gmt":"2019-10-24T17:03:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/?p=3492"},"modified":"2019-10-24T20:03:59","modified_gmt":"2019-10-24T17:03:59","slug":"30-asiatic-lloyd-containerships-to-feature-optimarin-bwt-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/30-asiatic-lloyd-containerships-to-feature-optimarin-bwt-systems\/3492\/","title":{"rendered":"30 Asiatic Lloyd Containerships to Feature Optimarin BWT Systems"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Singapore-based shipping company Asiatic Lloyd has decided to equip its entire fleet with ballast water treatment systems (BWTSs).&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As informed, Asiatic Lloyd Shipmanagement recently signed a fleet agreement with Norway\u2019s BWTS provider Optimarin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contract encompasses 30 Optimarin Ballast Systems (OBS) that would be installed across the shipping company\u2019s fleet of 1,000-9,000 TEU containerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The retrofit will be carried out from late 2019 to 2022, according to Optimarin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the third quarter of this year, Optimarin reported a year-on-year increase in sales of more than 100%, with order intake at an all-time high. The growth, consolidating the trend seen in the previous quarter, comes on the back of a number of new agreements with ship owners and operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cSeptember\u2019s IMO&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/worldmaritimenews.com\/archives\/284699\/bwm-convention-amendments-enter-into-force\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">D2 deadline<\/a>&nbsp;for BWT compliance has created, quite rightly, a sense of urgency in the market, and we are now seeing more activity than ever before,\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>Leiv Kallestad, Optimarin CEO, commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Asiatic Lloyd &amp; Atlantic Lloyd group of companies represents the shipowning and ship management activities of Germany\u2019s K.F. Bunnemann family.
