Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport (ICFGF) in the Highlands has appointed Calum MacPherson as its first chief executive officer.<\/p>\n
MacPherson, who previously held roles at Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Robertson Capital Project business will take the helm at Scotland\u2019s first green freeports in August.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, the UK and Scottish governments chose the Cromarty Firth and Forth areas to host Scotland\u2019s first green freeports which will be able to give tax breaks and reduced tariffs while also creating high-quality jobs.<\/p>\n
Opportunity Cromarty Firth was the consortium that led the successful bid for green freeport status and creation of ICFGF that aims to maximise local and Scotland-wide benefits from a pipeline of renewable energy projects potentially creating up to 15,000 jobs locally with a further 10,000 estimated across the rest of Scotland and the UK.<\/p>\n
ICFGF is backed by Port of Cromarty Firth, Global Energy Group, Port of Inverness and The Highland Council alongside regional and national businesses, public sector organisations and academic bodies.<\/p>\n
