Belgian tanker owner Euronav is getting two new independent board members while another member of its management board exits the company after this week\u2019s immediate departure of chief executive Hugo De Stoop<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n At its annual general meeting, the Brussels- and New York-listed firm approved Julie De Nul and Ole Henrik Bj\u00f8rge as its new supervisory board members.<\/p>\n The duo will take the seats of Anita Odedra and Carl Trowell, who secured shareholder votes earlier in March when John Fredriksen, Marc Saverys, Cato Stonex and Patrik De Brabandere were also elected as board members<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n De Nul, CEO of Jan De Nul Dredging since 2020 and board member of Jan De Nul since 2010, failed to secure shareholders backing in March as a candidate proposed by the Saverys family\u2019s Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB).<\/p>\n A former boss of Pareto Securities, Bj\u00f8rge, is the owner and CEO of Nes Invest and holds positions as a board member at HitecVision, Hav Energy, OMP Capital and Ulstein Group.<\/p>\n Euronav has been navigating troubled waters for more than a year including a failed merger<\/a><\/span> with John Frederiksen\u2019s Frontline, which subsequently saw De Stoop leave \u201cby mutual agreement\u201d after a lengthy row with the company\u2019s other main shareholder, the Saverys family.\u00a0<\/p>\n He was followed by Euronav\u2019s general counsel, Egied Verbeeck, whose resignation from the management board was announced on Wednesday. Euronav said Verbeeck, who joined in 2006, helped steer the company into the largest independent crude tanker platform through multiple corporate transactions, including its listing on the New York Stok Exchange.<\/p>\n
