{"id":33705,"date":"2023-05-16T11:12:17","date_gmt":"2023-05-16T08:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/hugo-de-stoop-steps-down-as-euronav-ceo\/33705\/"},"modified":"2023-05-16T11:12:17","modified_gmt":"2023-05-16T08:12:17","slug":"hugo-de-stoop-steps-down-as-euronav-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/hugo-de-stoop-steps-down-as-euronav-ceo\/33705\/","title":{"rendered":"Hugo De Stoop steps down as Euronav CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content entry clearfix\">\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-before-post\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>Hugo De Stoop has resigned from his position of chief executive officer at Belgian tanker owner Euronav with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p>Euronav said De Stoop\u2019s departure is the result of a mutual agreement and that the majority of its <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/john-fredriksen-and-marc-saverys-secure-euronav-seats-as-three-of-five-directors-survive-boardroom-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supervisory board<\/a><\/span> supported this decision.<\/p>\n<p>He will be available to the company as a senior advisor until the appointment of a permanent successor.<\/p>\n<p>Euronav\u2019s chief financial officer Lieve Logghe has agreed to take over as interim CEO to oversee the continuity of Euronav operations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>De Stoop, who backed the company\u2019s failed merger with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/john-fredriksen-walks-away-from-euronav-merger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John Frederiksen\u2019s Frontline<\/a><\/span>, joined Euronav in September 2004 and was appointed deputy CFO and head of investor relations and was nominated as CFO in 2008. In May 2019, he assumed the position of Euronav\u2019s CEO.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am grateful to have spent close to 20 years helping to build a great company and supporting talented people in doing so.
