This is 48 more vessels \u2013 equivalent to 3.3m dwt \u2013 year-on-year with orders weighted towards MR2s followed by aframaxes, suezmaxes and LR1s. The month of April is looking like it will be the busiest month for tanker orders since March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the pace of deliveries so far this year is faster than contracting, the orderbook to fleet ratio continues to shrink,\u201d BRS pointed out in a new tanker report. The ratio today stands at 4.1%, the lowest in over three decades.<\/p>\n<p>At the current pace of ordering, annualised contracting is running at 260 units up by 165% year-on-year, which would take the ratio to 5%.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>Combined crude and product tanker fleet growth over the next two years is unlikely to exceed 2% in nominal terms, BRS is forecasting lending support to a host of bullish tanker analysis this year, with many experts suggesting the market is set fair for 2023 and 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Tanker panellists at this week\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/maritime-ceo-forum-hurdles-for-tanker-newbuilds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this week\u2019s Maritime CEO Forum in Singapore<\/a><\/span> were all confident that this year would be a very solid one for the sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe think it looks good for 2023 and beyond,\u201d said Alan Hatton, the CEO of Foreguard Shipping. \u201cThe orderbook remains low, and to order a ship costs top dollar and you have to wait, and we still don\u2019t know what propulsion to choose.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-after-post\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"stream-item stream-item-below-post-content\">\n<div class=\"stream-item-size\" style=\"\">\n\t    <!-- \/91333190\/SPLASH247_*_Splash247_Article_*_Strip_Slot_*_2 --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2\">\n<script>\ngoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); });\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>splash247<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tanker orders are picking up, but remain unlikely to affect fleet fundamentals until after 2026, according to new analysis from BRS.
