New York-listed diversified owner SFL Corporation has shipped out its oldest suezmax tanker at a profit.<\/p>\n

The John Fredriksen-controlled company said it had sold and delivered the 2010-built
\n\t\t\tEverbright<\/span> to an unrelated third party for net proceeds of around $41.1m.<\/p>\n

The ship, built at Jiangsu Rongsheng in China, was debt-free at the end of the first quarter, and the sale should result in a second-quarter book gain of $6.4m.<\/p>\n

VesselsValue data shows the 156,000 dwt vessel was picked up by Turkey\u2019s Besiktas Likid Tasimacilik and is currently on charter with Trafigura.<\/p>\n

Also this April, SFL offloaded a pair of ageing chemical tankers<\/a><\/span> for $19.5m on a debt-free basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cDivesting of older vessels is part of the company\u2019s strategy to continuously renew and diversify its fleet, and the net cash proceeds are expected to be reinvested in new assets,\u201d SFL said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Following the sale, the company, which also owns bulkers, boxships, car carriers and offshore drilling rigs, will have seven suezmax tankers, with the oldest unit built in 2015.<\/p>\n
