Lines and Vale International announced a partnership to retrofit a 200,000-ton class bulk carrier, currently employed under a mid\u2013term contract for transportation of iron ore for Vale, with two 35m x 5m rotor sails produced by Norsepower Oy. The installation of the rotor sails is expected in the first half of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Norsepower Rotor Sail made of lightweight and strong composite material and with a fully automated control system, produces thrust as the wind generates differential pressure around the slewing rotor while the vessel is sailing. By applying this solution, the vessel is expected to achieve about 6-10% fuel and GHG emissions reductions, combined with voyage optimisation technology \u2013 enabling significant advancements towards decarbonisation goals and reducing fuel consumption.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><span class=\"fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib\" style=\"width: 913px; width: 913px;\"><span class=\"fr-img-wrap\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imagesedit.marinelink.com\/images\/storage\/w800h466\/2fc4f8ef-5810-2801-aa8d-67e673f3349f-a6dd.jpg\"\/><span class=\"fr-inner\">Artistic rendering of vessel with Norsepower Rotor Sails.
