{"id":31330,"date":"2022-09-08T22:43:36","date_gmt":"2022-09-08T19:43:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/port-of-new-orleans-awarded-514965-in-port-security-grant-funding\/31330\/"},"modified":"2022-09-08T22:43:36","modified_gmt":"2022-09-08T19:43:36","slug":"port-of-new-orleans-awarded-514965-in-port-security-grant-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/port-of-new-orleans-awarded-514965-in-port-security-grant-funding\/31330\/","title":{"rendered":"Port of New Orleans Awarded $514,965 in Port Security Grant Funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"text\">\n<p>The Port of New Orleans was recently awarded $514,964 in Port Security Grant funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to upgrade technology at the Harbor Police Department (HPD)\u2019s Maritime Security Operations Center (MSOC).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis grant funding will strengthen our ability to provide proactive law enforcement services, patrols, anti-terrorism efforts, and investigative services,\u201d said HPD\u2019s Police Chief Melanie Montroll. \u201cI am grateful for FEMA\u2019s ongoing support in our homeland defense efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The MSOC provides surveillance and communications equipment necessary for operational coordination and critical information-sharing with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and other public safety agencies. The upgraded system will be secure for the current threat landscape and adaptable to meet evolving security needs.
