{"id":3060,"date":"2019-09-23T09:29:34","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T06:29:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/?p=3060"},"modified":"2019-09-23T09:29:35","modified_gmt":"2019-09-23T06:29:35","slug":"dsme-collects-ethylene-carrier-tank-aips-from-dnv-gl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/dsme-collects-ethylene-carrier-tank-aips-from-dnv-gl\/3060\/","title":{"rendered":"DSME Collects Ethylene Carrier Tank AIPs from DNV GL"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>South Korea\u2019s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has received Approval in Principle (AIP) certificates for two new 98,000 cubic meter (cbm) ethylene carrier cargo tank designs from classification society DNV GL.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AIPs were granted for two type-B prismatic cargo tank designs, one made of high manganese steel, the other constructed with 5 percent nickel steel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the review DNV GL experts assessed the cargo containment systems, machinery spaces and accommodation arrangements, as well as the hull girder strength and local scantling amidships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Onboard lifesaving and firefighting systems were also part of the assessment. It was found that the general concepts of both tank designs comply with the DNV GL rules for the classification of ships and that they are in accordance with SOLAS and the IGC Code (2016 edition).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThis is another great milestone in our longstanding relationship with DNV GL, demonstrating DSME\u2019s strong design and innovation capabilities,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;said Odin Kwon, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of DSME.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIncreasing oil and gas production from shale deposits is making more ethylene available across the globe, and an increasing number of ship operators are interested in the gas as a cargo for gas carriers.
