{"id":30547,"date":"2022-06-16T14:50:12","date_gmt":"2022-06-16T11:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/msc-bids-for-global-ports-holding\/30547\/"},"modified":"2022-06-16T14:50:12","modified_gmt":"2022-06-16T11:50:12","slug":"msc-bids-for-global-ports-holding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/msc-bids-for-global-ports-holding\/30547\/","title":{"rendered":"MSC bids for Global Ports Holding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content entry clearfix\">\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-before-post\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>Cash-rich Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has made a bid to take over London-listed Global Ports Holding, the world\u2019s largest cruise port operator.<\/p>\n<p>Global Ports, owned by Turkish businessman Mehmet Kutman, said the talks were ongoing and the deadline for MSC to make a firm offer or walk away is July 13.<\/p>\n<p>As well as widespread cruise portfolio, Global Ports operates a couple of commercial ports including Montenegro\u2019s largest port.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>MSC, privately held by the Aponte family, runs the world\u2019s largest containerline as well as the third largest cruise line in the world.<\/p>\n<p>During container shipping\u2019s record earnings period through the pandemic, MSC has been hunting acquisition targets,\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/msc-moves-ahead-with-6-3bn-bollore-africa-logistics-acquisition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agreeing recently to buy Bollore\u2019s African transport and logistics business<\/a><\/span>\u00a0for $6bn, taking a stake in Italian ferry operator Moby in March while earlier in the year it lodged a\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/msc-joins-lufthansa-in-bidding-for-italys-flagship-airline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">joint bid with Lufthansa to take over ITA<\/a><\/span>, the successor to Alitalia.
