More than two-thirds of the shareholders at Euronav\u2019s annual general meeting voted against the admission of three representatives of the Saverys family\u2019s Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) to the board of directors.<\/p>\n<p>The three directors proposed by CMB, Ludovic Saverys, Patrick De Brabandere and Bjarte Boe were voted out. Instead, the general meeting approved the reappointment of both Grace Skaugen and Anne-H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Monsellato as independent directors for terms of two years, as well as Steven Smith, who previously served as a member of the board from 2018 to 2019. Euronav\u2019s Grace Skaugen has been nominated as the new chairperson.<\/p>\n<p>CMB, which has been in control of Euronav since 1997, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/boardroom-battle-intensifies-at-euronav\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">publicly opposed<\/a><\/span> the merger of the Antwerp-based tanker giant with John Fredriksen\u2019s Frontline and pressed for a combination with hydrogen technology developer CMB Tech.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>Euronav and Frontline plan <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/euronav-and-frontline-to-merge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">to combine<\/a><\/span> their fleets in an all-share deal to create Europe\u2019s largest tanker firm. The merger has not yet been decided and requires a special general meeting and 75% of the vote.
