{"id":29838,"date":"2022-04-12T13:45:09","date_gmt":"2022-04-12T10:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/hammonia-acquires-mr2-pair\/29838\/"},"modified":"2022-04-12T13:45:09","modified_gmt":"2022-04-12T10:45:09","slug":"hammonia-acquires-mr2-pair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/hammonia-acquires-mr2-pair\/29838\/","title":{"rendered":"Hammonia acquires MR2 pair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content entry clearfix\">\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-before-post\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>Germany-based Hammonia Schiffsholding (HHX) has purchased two modern MR2 chemical tankers from Brodotrogir-affiliated Trogir Maritime for $50.5m.<\/p>\n<p>The 2015 and 2016 built vessels, named\u00a0<em>Hammonia Athene<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Hammonia Artemis<\/em>, formerly known as\u00a0<em>Trogir Kairos I<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Songa Pride<\/em>\u00a0(<em>Trogir Kairos II<\/em>), will be fully re-coated and then delivered into a five-year time charter to Denmark\u2019s WECO Tankers under the charter names WECO Am\u00e9lie and WECO Madeleine. Delivery to WECO will take place no later than July 31, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Hammonia Schiffsholding sold its containership\u00a0<em>Lutetia<\/em>\u00a0within the group of companies, refinanced it, and used the funds released to acquire the MR2 pair. The transaction was backed by NIBC Shipping. Technical and commercial management will be done under the company\u2019s new brand, Hammonia Energy, which has already taken over the management of Hammonia\u2019s suezmax tanker\u00a0<em>Aura M<\/em>\u00a0since March this year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the pleasant development of our container investments, this transaction marks a further step of diversification of the HHX fleet into shipping segments early in the cycle offering appreciation potential, such as the tanker market.
