{"id":29749,"date":"2022-04-04T09:57:56","date_gmt":"2022-04-04T06:57:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/singapore-to-sign-up-to-international-green-corridor-pact\/29749\/"},"modified":"2022-04-04T09:57:56","modified_gmt":"2022-04-04T06:57:56","slug":"singapore-to-sign-up-to-international-green-corridor-pact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/singapore-to-sign-up-to-international-green-corridor-pact\/29749\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore to sign up to international green corridor pact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content entry clearfix\">\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-before-post\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>Singapore, one of the world\u2019s most important transhipment hubs, will sign up to the Clydebank Declaration, a shipping green corridor movement first announced during COP 26 in Glasgow last November.<\/p>\n<p>Signatories to the <a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/top-shipping-nations-join-forces-in-glasgow-to-develop-green-corridors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Clydebank Declaration<\/span><\/a> have agreed to work together to support the establishment of green shipping corridors, defined as zero-emission maritime routes, between two or more port pairs.<\/p>\n<p>Opening Singapore Maritime Week, the republic\u2019s transport minister, S Iswaran announced his country\u2019s intention to become the 23rd signatory to the green shipping pact.<\/p>\n<p>Last week the M\u00e6rsk Mc-Kinney M\u00f8ller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/maersk-mc-kinney-moller-center-for-zero-carbon-shipping-launches-port-partnership-to-establish-the-european-green-corridors-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">established the European Green Corridors Network<\/a><\/span> with the port authorities of Hamburg, Gdynia, Roenne, Rotterdam, and Tallinn.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>In January <em>Splash<\/em> reported on how two of the most important port pairings in global container shipping are to create a green corridor. The Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Shanghai have committed to create a green shipping corridor on one of the world\u2019s busiest container shipping routes, while last November the Dutch port of Antwerp and the Canadian port of Montreal signed a cooperation agreement to support the creation of a green shipping corridor in the North Atlantic.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore Maritime Week kicks off as the shipping calendar, dormant for most of the pandemic, kicks into high gear.
