{"id":29463,"date":"2022-03-10T04:46:01","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T01:46:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/port-of-brunswick-in-georgia-to-add-berth-expand-storage-grow-breakbulk-capability\/29463\/"},"modified":"2022-03-10T04:46:01","modified_gmt":"2022-03-10T01:46:01","slug":"port-of-brunswick-in-georgia-to-add-berth-expand-storage-grow-breakbulk-capability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/port-of-brunswick-in-georgia-to-add-berth-expand-storage-grow-breakbulk-capability\/29463\/","title":{"rendered":"Port of Brunswick in Georgia to add berth, expand storage, grow breakbulk capability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content entry clearfix\">\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-before-post\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>The Georgia Ports Authority on Wednesday unveiled plans to grow capacity at the Port of Brunswick\u2019s autoport and its breakbulk terminal for forest products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re expanding berth and terminal capacity at both Colonel\u2019s Island and Mayor\u2019s Point so that we are ready to take on additional trade,\u201d said Griff Lynch, GPA executive director.<\/p>\n<p>As America\u2019s second busiest hub for ro-ro cargo, behind only Baltimore, the Port of Brunswick moved 650,000 units of vehicles and heavy machinery in 2021, an increase of 10% over the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>GPA will add a fourth berth at the Colonel\u2019s Island terminal, 360,000 square feet of new warehousing, and 85 additional acres for auto processing. The new pavement and buildings are slated to be complete in 2023. The additional auto storage will increase the terminal\u2019s annual capacity from 1.2m to 1.4m vehicles. Colonel\u2019s Island has a total of 355 acres permitted for expansion.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>Construction of the new berth is anticipated to begin at the end of 2022 and take two years to complete.
