{"id":28490,"date":"2021-12-13T21:08:17","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T18:08:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/wan-hai-sets-aside-320m-for-acquisitions-and-seals-yokohama-terminal-deal\/28490\/"},"modified":"2021-12-13T21:08:17","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T18:08:17","slug":"wan-hai-sets-aside-320m-for-acquisitions-and-seals-yokohama-terminal-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/wan-hai-sets-aside-320m-for-acquisitions-and-seals-yokohama-terminal-deal\/28490\/","title":{"rendered":"Wan Hai sets aside $320m for acquisitions and seals Yokohama terminal deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content entry clearfix\">\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-before-post\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>Wan Hai Lines has set out to expand further with a new war chest and a lease deal for a terminal in Yokohama, Japan\u2019s container port, crowned as the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/yokohama-crowned-worlds-most-efficient-container-port\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">world\u2019s most efficient box facility<\/a><\/span> in this year\u2019s study by the World Bank and data firm IHS Markit.<\/p>\n<p>The Taiwanese containerline has earmarked $320m more for secondhand ship acquisitions, adding to last month\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/splash247.com\/wan-hai-continues-secondhand-boxship-buying-spree-with-allseas-marine-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">war chest<\/a><\/span> of $200m, with three boxships already purchased and $360m from last year, which helped expand the fleet with 12 ships.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Wan Hai announced it had signed a contract with Yokohama-Kawasaki International Port Corporation (YKIP) for a 10-year lease of the Honmoku D4 terminal in Yokohama. The annual lease has been set at around JPY5.6bn ($49.5m), but the takeover date has not been revealed. The Honmoku D4 Terminal, currently operated by CMA CGM, has a total annual operating capacity of 400,000 teu and contributes to about 15% of Yokohama\u2019s port throughput.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>According to data from Alphaliner, Wan Hai is currently the world\u2019s 10th largest liner with a 417,421 teu capacity.
