{"id":28481,"date":"2021-12-13T11:02:54","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T08:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/us-department-of-transportation-awards-12-6m-in-grants-for-americas%e2%80%afmarine-highways\/28481\/"},"modified":"2021-12-13T11:02:54","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T08:02:54","slug":"us-department-of-transportation-awards-12-6m-in-grants-for-americas%e2%80%afmarine-highways","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/us-department-of-transportation-awards-12-6m-in-grants-for-americas%e2%80%afmarine-highways\/28481\/","title":{"rendered":"US Department of Transportation awards $12.6m in grants for America\u2019s\u202fmarine highways"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content entry clearfix\">\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-before-post\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>The\u202fUS Department of Transportation\u2019s Maritime Administration\u202f(MARAD) last week awarded $12.6m in grants to\u202fnine\u202fprojects under\u202fthe\u202fAmerica\u2019s Marine Highway Program (AMHP).\u202fThe funding\u202fwill\u202fhelp address supply chain disruptions, enhance the movement of goods along navigable waterways, and expand existing waterborne freight services in Delaware, Hawaii,\u202fIndiana, Kentucky, Louisiana,\u202fNorth Carolina,\u202fNew York,\u202fNew Jersey, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>The grants will enable the purchase of cranes, reach stackers, forklift scales, container chassis, barges and other equipment.<\/p>\n<p>The\u202fAMHP\u202fpromotes the increased use of navigable waterways to\u202frelieve\u202flandside congestion, support new and more-efficient transportation options, and\u202fenhance performance\u202fof the surface transportation system. The program works with public and private stakeholders to achieve those goals.\u202f<\/p>\n<div class=\"mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle\" style=\"display: none !important;\"><\/div>\n<p>All AMHP grant award recipients must apply, comply with and implement all provisions of the Buy American Act.<\/p>\n<p>Grant funds can be used to purchase low-emission US-manufactured equipment, such as container reach stackers and cranes, manufactured with American components and labour.
