{"id":2804,"date":"2019-09-04T12:49:53","date_gmt":"2019-09-04T09:49:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/?p=2804"},"modified":"2019-09-04T12:49:54","modified_gmt":"2019-09-04T09:49:54","slug":"crowley-orders-articulated-tug-barge-for-alaska-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/crowley-orders-articulated-tug-barge-for-alaska-operations\/2804\/","title":{"rendered":"Crowley Orders Articulated Tug-Barge for Alaska Operations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>US-based marine solutions and services company Crowley has ordered a 55,000-barrel, articulated tug-barge (ATB) that would distribute clean fuel products on the Western Alaska market.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 410-foot ATB will be used provide marine delivery services during the short open-water season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crowley said the tug would be constructed by Master Boat Builders while the barge would be built by Gunderson Marine. The ATB is expected to be delivered in January 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tug and barge are designed with shallow operating draft, allowing the vessel to serve several Alaska river terminals with limited water depths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the ATB will feature the capability to perform nearshore ship-to-ship cargo transfers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cOur new ATB will continue Crowley Fuels\u2019 long-standing commitment to provide Alaska with safe and dependable marine transportation to serve the energy needs of the state,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;Rick Meidel, vice president and general manager, Crowley Fuels, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new ATB will follow the completion of Crowley\u2019s 100,000-barrel ATB now finishing construction at Bollinger Shipyards.
