The 506,707 intermodal boxes constituted more than 20 percent of total containers, another record, the port noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe authority\u2019s investment in the Mason Mega Rail project is coming just in time for our capacity to stay ahead of demand, ensuring the free flow of intermodal cargo,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;said Will McKnight, GPA\u2019s Board Chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the Port of Brunswick, 613,680 autos and machinery units crossed the docks at Colonel\u2019s Island Terminal, GPA\u2019s main port for the import-export of cars, trucks and tractors, while roll-on\/roll-off cargo grew by 4 percent at Colonel\u2019s Island in FY2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ocean terminal in Savannah added another 35,884 vehicles for a total of nearly 650,000 units moved through Georgia\u2019s ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GPA also has a program in place that will allow the Port of Savannah to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/worldmaritimenews.com\/archives\/270752\/savannah-port-to-serve-six-14000-teu-ships-simultaneously\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">simultaneously handle six 14,000 TEU vessels by 2024<\/a>.
