MSC Matilde, a containership operated by Swiss Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has been reported listing at a UK port.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Panama-flagged ship was found to be listing in dock at the Port of Liverpool, in the early morning hours (local time) of May 24, MSC informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a precaution, the captain and the crew of the 4,400 TEU boxship were disembarked from the vessel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UK\u2019s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) sent lifeboats, tugs and a pollution response vessel to the scene after being contacted by port operator Peel Ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the ballast transfer put the ship back on an even keel, MSC Matilde\u2019s crew were all back on board several hours later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe vessel is now reported to be back on an even keel following a ballast transfer with unloading due to commence later today,\u201d<\/em> MCA\u2019s statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere were no reports of injuries, loss of cargo or damage to ship and operations are back to normal,\u201d <\/em>MSC said separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relevant authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, MSC Matilde suffered a main engine failure off Grondines, Quebec, on the St. Lawrence River. After the crew carried out repairs, the Post-Panamax resumed its voyage the same day, according to data provided by VesselsValue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, in March 2019, the 1999-built vessel experienced a machinery failure resulting in the partial loss of power on the St. Lawrence River. MSC Mathilde continued its voyage at a reduced speed to Montreal port, Canada, for repairs.
