In addition to the Chinese shipyard, the project includes several European, American, and Asian subcontractors. <\/p>\n<p><em> \u201cWe have applied one of our concepts on a ship from the RoPax-class, which are passenger and freighter vessels for international voyages, and modified her into a pure passenger ship with hospital capabilities,\u201d<\/em> says <strong>Per Westling<\/strong>, CEO of Stena RoRo AB. <\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cInstead of a car deck, we\u2019ve built operating rooms and hospital wards. The ship will have space for about 950 persons with everything needed for both patients and those who work on board, including grade schools and nursery schools for the children of staff.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/file\/2020\/10\/1602067383_242_Worlds-largest-civilian-hospital-ship-nears-delivery.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-393334\" \/><figcaption>The Global Mercy changing births after being painted; Image courtesy: Mercy Ships<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Vessel specifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Length 174 meters<\/li>\n<li>Weight 37,000 tons<\/li>\n<li>Breadth: 28.6 meters<\/li>\n<li>Draught: 6.15 meters <\/li>\n<li> Total area: 30,000 square meters <\/li>\n<li> 6 operating rooms<\/li>\n<li>Accommodation for up  950 crew and guests<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, the ventilation system has been specially adapted and focus has been placed on minimizing vibration and noise. <\/p>\n<p>The ship is equipped with large cranes in order to be able to take on containers with provisions, vehicles and other equipment as the ship is to be used for long periods in port. <\/p>\n<p>The ship will\u00a0be powered by\u00a0four\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"md-opjjpmhoiojifppkkcdabiobhakljdgm_doc\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pages.wartsila.digital\/l\/251562\/2020-09-18\/2g4r29j\">W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 32 engines<\/a>.
