A sheen was later reported near the ship and a Coast Guard boat crew investigating the report <a href=\"https:\/\/gcaptain.com\/cracked-containership-leaking-oil-at-bayonne-new-jersey-terminal\/\">discovered a small crack<\/a> in the ship\u2019s hull which was leaking fuel oil.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The impacted tank was reported to a capacity of 462,297 gallons, but so far it is unclear just how much fuel oil had leaked. A barge was brought alongside the vessel and pumped fuel oil from the tank.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The Coast Guard reported Sunday that the YM Mandate had departed the GCT Bayonne terminal on Saturday to undergo repairs at a different facility in the Port of New York. The departure was approved following the cleaning of the vessel.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>A Unified command consisting of the Coast Guard, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and Gallagher Marine Systems<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe response was quick and efficient thanks to the strong coordination of all agencies involved,\u201d said Lt. Cmdr.
