{"id":1878,"date":"2019-05-20T14:30:27","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T14:30:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/?p=1878"},"modified":"2019-05-20T14:30:28","modified_gmt":"2019-05-20T14:30:28","slug":"baltic-exchange-council-elects-new-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/baltic-exchange-council-elects-new-chairman\/1878\/","title":{"rendered":"Baltic Exchange Council Elects New Chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Maritime industry information provider Baltic Exchange Council has elected Braemar Tankers-founding partner Denis Petropoulos as its new chairman.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Petropoulos will officially take over the role from Duncan Dunn on June 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Petropoulos most recently headed up Braemar\u2019s Singapore office for seven years, before returning to the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has been a Baltic Exchange member since 1999 and has held positions on the Baltic board 2002-2007 and joined the council in January 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cDenis Petropoulos is a highly respected and well-known shipbroker who played a critical role in the setting up of the Baltic tanker indices in the late 1990s,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;Mark Jackson, Baltic Exchange chief executive, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>During my term in office I intend to pay particular attention to raising awareness of the maritime industry to the younger generation,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;Petropoulos said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cAt the same time I want to ensure that Baltic members\u2019 ideas and concerns are heard at Council level as well as support the Baltic\u2019s drive to increase its profile in Asia.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Baltic Exchange Council is the governing body which oversees the Baltic, including its membership committee, in relation to the Baltic Exchange\u2019s strategy for membership services, social responsibility and relationship with its members, governments, regulatory bodies and the global shipping community.<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maritime industry information provider Baltic Exchange Council has elected Braemar Tankers-founding partner Denis Petropoulos as its new chairman.
