\nconversion of all three into hybrid vessels not only represents a firm
\ncommitment on the part of Island Offshore to the principles of environmental
\nresponsibility but also has potential for increased operational efficiency and
\na marked reduction in maintenance requirements.<\/p>\n
\nrun multiple engines to achieve redundancy, with consequent impacts on fuel
\nperformance, equipment health and emissions.<\/p>\n
\nconventional LNG or diesel engines with its SAVe Energy battery system will allow
\nfor fewer engines to be running, improving efficiency by increasing the load on
\nthe remaining engines. The company believes that fuel consumption and running
\ncosts will also be reduced through the conversion of the vessels to closed
\nbus-tie operation.<\/p>\n
\nOffshore will operate via a single feed from the energy storage system (ESS) to
\nthe main switchboard \u2013 with manual changeover which will enable the operators
\nto balance out running hours on generators \u2013 and a 600kW dual shore connection.<\/p>\n
