{"id":15666,"date":"2020-08-17T09:16:34","date_gmt":"2020-08-17T06:16:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/keel-laid-for-mols-2nd-large-lng-bunkering-vessel\/15666\/"},"modified":"2020-08-17T09:16:34","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T06:16:34","slug":"keel-laid-for-mols-2nd-large-lng-bunkering-vessel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/keel-laid-for-mols-2nd-large-lng-bunkering-vessel\/15666\/","title":{"rendered":"Keel laid for MOL\u2019s 2nd large LNG bunkering vessel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>China\u2019s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has held a keel laying ceremony for the second LNG bunkering vessel owned by Japan\u2019s MOL and chartered by France-based Total.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.offshorewind.biz\/file\/sites\/6\/2020\/08\/16214339\/Keel-laid-for-MOLs-2nd-large-LNG-bunkering-vessel-1024x520.jpg\" alt=\"Keel laid for MOL's 2nd large LNG bunkering vessel\" class=\"wp-image-381131\" \/><figcaption>Image: Hudong-Zhonghua<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation says it held the ceremony on August 12.<\/p>\n<p>Hudong <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/chinas-hudong-starts-building-2nd-lng-bunkering-vessel\/\">started work<\/a> on the LNG bunkering ship late April and carried out pre-fabrication works for several months prior to setting the vessels\u2019 module in place for final assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The 18,600-cbm capacity vessel will be 135 meters long, the same as the first ship in this batch chartered by Total and named<a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/hudong-delivers-total-chartered-lng-bunker-vessel\/\"> Gas Agilty<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>MOL and Total claim these are the world&#8217;s largest LNG bunkering vessels.<\/p>\n<p>To remind, Gas Agilty departed Hudong&#8217;s Jiangnan yard in May and its AIS data shows it is expected to reach Rotterdam on August 23.<\/p>\n<p>In Rotterdam, it will be supplying the fuel to CMA CGM&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/cma-cgms-2nd-lng-powered-giant-nearing-completion\/\">giant nine containerships<\/a> but also other vessels in the Northern Europe area.<\/p>\n<p>Both of the LNG bunkering ships feature GTT&#8217;s Mark III Flex membrane containment system and Wartsila&#8217;s dual-fuel engine.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Hudong says  it would boost the performance of the second ship compared to its sister vessel.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the upgrade, the ship will have a 25 percent higher loading and unloading rate for improved operations, according to the yard.<\/p>\n<p>Once delivered in the second part of 2021, the LNG bunkering ship will be stationed in the Marseille-Fos area in France.<\/p>\n<p>This vessel will supply LNG in the Mediterranean area to a wide range of vessels, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/cma-cgm-chartered-lng-boxship-completes-gas-trials\/\">six containerships<\/a> CMA CGM chartered from Eastern Pacific Shipping.<\/p>\n<p>MOL will operate the vessel under French flag together with Gazocean, a unit of Total.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/keel-laid-for-mols-2nd-large-lng-bunkering-vessel\/\">Keel laid for MOL&#8217;s 2nd large LNG bunkering vessel<\/a> appeared first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\">Offshore Energy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>world maritime news<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>China\u2019s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has held a keel laying ceremony for the second LNG bunkering vessel owned by Japan\u2019s MOL and chartered by France-based Total.
