The vessel, however, is in ballast and not carrying any cargo.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Reports say the local Coast Guard attempted to contact the ship before it ran aground.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\" type=\"d4d8d05d047ee16b03d7a8db-text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The MV Wakashio was built in 2007 by Universal Shipbuilding in Kawasaki, Japan.
