{"id":11922,"date":"2020-06-19T02:56:25","date_gmt":"2020-06-18T23:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/ecap-mobility-wins-dnv-gl-aip-for-maritime-application-of-re-fire-fuel-cells\/11922\/"},"modified":"2020-06-19T02:56:25","modified_gmt":"2020-06-18T23:56:25","slug":"ecap-mobility-wins-dnv-gl-aip-for-maritime-application-of-re-fire-fuel-cells","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.al-sindbad.net\/ecap-mobility-wins-dnv-gl-aip-for-maritime-application-of-re-fire-fuel-cells\/11922\/","title":{"rendered":"eCap Mobility wins DNV GL AiP for maritime application of Re-Fire fuel cells"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Classification society DNV GL has granted an Approval in Principle (AiP) for a concept of maritime Re-Fire fuel cell application, jointly developed by electric mobility solutions provider eCap and fuel cell technology developer Re-Fire Technology.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.offshorewind.biz\/file\/sites\/6\/2020\/06\/18100910\/Fuell_Cell.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-368742\" \/><figcaption> \u00a0Re-Fire fuel cells; Image credit:Ecap\/ReFire<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The partnership was launched back in 2019 as the two companies decided to combine the technical and economic know-how for the joint development of cross-sector fuel cell projects. <\/p>\n<p> The \u201cHydrogen Electric System\u201d (H2ES) developed by eCap combines Re-Fire fuel cell technology with the latest hydrogen and electrical components to form an innovative and environmentally friendly drive solution for shipping. <\/p>\n<p>The now-approved fuel cell solution can be installed on deck and encompasses cabinets for up to 440 kW power.<\/p>\n<p> Fuel cells as a zero-emission propulsion solution for marine applications are expected to play a significant role in the process of the maritime industry&#8217;s decarbonization.<\/p>\n<p>At this stage, the technology has asserted its position as a viable source of marine energy to supporting auxiliary energy requirements and powering smaller ships.
