Both solutions are to be delivered at the end of 2021. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Joeri Poelmann<\/strong>, Ampelmann\u2019s area manager of sales for Asia Pacific, said: \u201c<em>We are excited to have formed this partnership with Royal Niestern Sander as, together, we can provide a solution that meets the specific needs of the local O&amp;G market in Sakhalin<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"inc-core-heading\">\n<h3>Year-round<br \/>\noperations<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p>Such a<br \/>\nsolution W2W solution will be able to operate in the summer as well as in the<br \/>\nextremely cold winter months.<\/p>\n<p>It will<br \/>\nenable year-round crew change services for up to 40 people from the shallow<br \/>\nNabil Port to offshore platforms near the coast.<\/p>\n<p>The new<br \/>\nAmpelmann system is based on the proven technology and track record of the<br \/>\noriginal A-type and utilises the winter-proof features of the N-type. It can<br \/>\ncompensate waves up to 3 metres and allow for safe and comfortable transfers at<br \/>\ntemperatures as low as -30\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.offshorewind.biz\/file\/sites\/6\/2020\/06\/12133100\/N-Type-Ampelmann-1024x593.jpg\" alt=\"The N-type system operating in extreme winter conditions off Sakhalin; Source: Ampelmann\" class=\"wp-image-367478\" \/><figcaption>The N-type system operating in extreme winter conditions off Sakhalin; Source: Ampelmann<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Like the<br \/>\nN-type, the most essential equipment is placed in a temperature-controlled<br \/>\nengine room under the hexapod, the transfer deck is covered, and outside<br \/>\ncomponents are equipped with covers and heat tracing. <\/p>\n<p>The system<br \/>\nwill have two operating modes, in which it will be placed midship during the<br \/>\nsummer to ensure the highest motion compensation capabilities, and towards the<br \/>\nstern of the vessel during the winter to accommodate people transfers while ice<br \/>\nbreaking. <\/p>\n<div class=\"inc-core-heading\">\n<h3>Experience in<br \/>\nSakhalin<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ampelmann<br \/>\nhas been operating in Sakhalin since 2014 when it started working with Sakhalin<br \/>\nEnergy to provide offshore personnel with means to access their platforms at<br \/>\nsea.<\/p>\n<p>The company<br \/>\ninitially utilised the Ampelmann A-type system on a dedicated accommodation<br \/>\nsupport vessel, which has been on charter since 2014 for the non-ice summer<br \/>\nseason. <\/p>\n<p>Since 2017,<br \/>\nthe two companies have been working together during the harsh winter season as<br \/>\nwell, with the help of the N-type system, designed to operate in arctic<br \/>\ntemperatures. In total, these systems have enabled over 200,000 safe personnel<br \/>\ntransfers to date. <\/p>\n<p>To<br \/>\naccommodate the growth of its operations in the area, Ampelmann also opened a<br \/>\nlocal office in Sakhalin in early 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jan van der Tempel<\/strong>, CEO of Ampelmann, added: \u201c<em>It is great to join forces again with Royal Niestern Sander. Previously, we developed the Kroonborg and Kasteelborg [vessels] expanding the W2W concept in the North Sea together with Wagenborg.
